Salthouse Harbour Hotel, Ipswich
As part of the re-development of the Salthouse Harbour Hotel in Ipswich, this striking centre piece was created to reflect the independent, retro-modern aesthetic the hotel wanted in their interiors. The idea was to take an old rural/industrial style of cladding in shingles and apply a modern, leftfield approach to decorating it.
The whole project was designed and made in house, using only post-industrial recycled glass and non-toxic paint as the raw materials. Each panel was then sandblasted with one of our standard sandblast designs to give it a distinctive mottled look and texture.
We have always specialise in creating innovative and unique glass designs, that reflect the ethos of each client. At The Salthouse Harbour Hotel we continued that tradition, by taking a potentially divisive architectural feature and making it into the centre piece of a distinctive decorative scheme.
